Moral of the story: Don't forget to recheck everything, even to the most obvious thing you will always do (e.g. in this case: TURN ON the equipment before you expect the device to work ;-).
Remind of what happened to a friend recently, the power adapter for the laptop needs electricity, thus you'll need to plug in the cable correctly :-; [and it took two days to find it out :-)].
